The Riyada Knowledge Bank · بنك المعرفة

The first three-layer business library written for the Gulf reader.

A permanent bilingual library that turns the most important ideas in business into something a working executive can apply on a Tuesday morning. Not summaries. Editions.

Why this exists

Executives are not short of content. They are short of three other things.

Time. A senior operator will not finish a 340-page management book. They will finish a rigorous 14-page edition of it, and they will finish it this week.

Arabic-language depth. The serious business canon is overwhelmingly available in English only, or in translations that are literal, late and commercially thin. An Arabic-speaking executive is asked to do their most demanding thinking in their second language.

Regional applicability. Global business writing assumes a reader in Boston or London — deep capital markets, arm's-length employment, mature institutions, low-context negotiation. It does not account for family ownership structures, GCC labour dynamics, relationship-led commerce, or the specific regulatory environment of the Sultanate. The advice is not wrong. It is simply not addressed to this reader.

The Knowledge Bank closes all three gaps at once — and the third gap is the one nobody else is closing.

The format

The 45-minute edition

Every title in the Knowledge Bank is engineered to be read end to end in roughly forty-five minutes, in either language, on a phone or in print.

Layer one
10–15% of the original length · the argument, intact
Layer two
original critical analysis, layer by layer
Layer three
the Gulf application, written for this market
Languages
Arabic and English, each edited natively — other languages on request

The structure

Three layers. Every title. Both languages.

The first layer respects the author. The second interrogates them. The third makes them useful here. And the shelf is never finished — new titles are researched, written and added continuously, in both languages.

Layer 01
Condensed
Executive Edition
النسخة التنفيذية المكثّفة
10–15% of the original length

The complete argument, faithfully compressed. Structure, logic, evidence and conclusions preserved. Repetition, anecdote, padding and the third example that makes the same point as the first — removed. The original author and title are always credited prominently, and the edition never pretends to replace the book.

Layer 02

Critical Reading
القراءة النقدية التنفيذية
Original GBN analysis

Where the thesis holds and where it does not. Which evidence is strong and which is a single anecdote wearing a suit. What has aged badly since publication. Which claims survive contact with a small market. What a decision-maker should be skeptical of before they act on any of it.

The layer no publisher writes

How the idea behaves under Gulf conditions: family-business governance and succession, GCC labour market realities, relationship-led commerce, regulatory environment, capital availability, and alignment with Oman Vision 2040. Written by people who operate here, for people who operate here.

The library

Eight domains, built out in sequence

The Knowledge Bank is organised by the decisions an executive actually has to make, not by publisher category.

Domain 01

Strategy & Competition

Positioning, competitive advantage, market entry, strategic choice under constraint.

Domain 02

Leadership & Organisation

Building teams, delegation, culture, and leading through founder transition.

Domain 03

Finance & Capital

Unit economics, cash discipline, valuation, funding structures and investor relations.

Domain 04

Marketing & Brand

Demand creation, brand equity, pricing psychology and distribution.

Domain 05

Operations & Systems

Process design, quality, supply chain and the discipline of scale.

Domain 06

Governance & Family Business

Boards, succession, shareholder agreements and the governance of family enterprises.

Domain 07

Innovation & Technology

Digital transformation, artificial intelligence in the enterprise, and managing technical change.

Domain 08

Negotiation & Influence

Deal-making, persuasion and decision-making in high-context, relationship-led markets.

Editorial standard

How an edition is built

This is the part that makes the Knowledge Bank an asset rather than a content exercise. Every edition passes through the same five stages before it is published.

  1. 01

    Selection

    Choose for consequence, not popularity

Titles are selected by an editorial panel on the basis of decision-relevance to operators in this region. A book that sold two million copies but changes nothing about how a Muscat business is run does not enter the library.

  2. 02

    Condensation

    Compress without distorting

A specialist works through the full text and reconstructs the argument at a tenth of the length, preserving the author's logic and evidence. Attribution to the original author and title is mandatory and prominent. Editions credit and point to the original work; they are not a substitute for reading it, and we say so on every edition.

  3. 03

    Critique

    Interrogate the thesis independently

A second author, deliberately not the condenser, writes the critical reading — stress-testing the evidence, identifying what has aged, and naming the conditions under which the advice fails. This layer is original GBN work and carries our name, not the author's.

  4. 04

    Regionalisation

Translate the conclusion, not just the words

A practitioner with direct Gulf operating experience writes the application guide: what changes here, what does not transfer, what the regulatory and cultural constraints are, and what the first practical step looks like in an Omani context.

  5. 05

    Bilingual edit

    Two languages, each edited natively

The Arabic and English editions are edited independently by native editors rather than machine-translated from one another. Terminology is standardised across the whole library, so a concept means the same thing in every title, in both languages.

On attribution and originality

GBN editions are original works of summary, analysis and commentary. Every edition names the original author and title prominently, directs readers to the original work, and does not reproduce the original text. Layers two and three are wholly original GBN authorship. Where a rights arrangement with a publisher is available and appropriate, GBN will seek it. Titles are added to the library only after this position has been reviewed with our legal partners.

Seat-based access for boards, leadership teams, investment portfolios, accelerators and universities — with optional facilitated executive sessions built around selected editions.

On application

Priced by seat count and session programme.

A library is a strange thing for a launch company to build. That is rather the point.

Anyone can register a company for you. The Knowledge Bank is the part that keeps GBN useful to a client in year three, and it is the reason our clients stay in the room after the launch is finished.

About forty-five minutes per title — in either language.
The shelf grows every month — new titles are always in preparation.
